Three of the hardest films in Videoland's range

Anyone who thinks that only bad Dutch series and stupid reality shows can be found on Videoland is wrong. The streaming service also contains a nice range of strong titles, some of which are not intended for children's eyes. Below are three recommendations.

Dragged across Concrete (2018)

Very successful. Starts slow, but gradually gets more intense. It's great that you can make such a fascinating film from such a simple fact. Almost a masterclass from the director, who seems to play a bit with the viewer, sometimes seems to deliberately leave gaps in the narration, for example, or introduce characters quite extensively only to make them disappear abruptly from the storyline. Like his previous film, the violent adrenaline rush Brawl in Cell Block 99 is very hard and at times very brutal. Not everyone's taste, no doubt, but made with guts and vision. Dialogues are often beautiful, too good to be true sometimes and not really realistic, but who cares?, we want to believe in this. Recommended for the not too delicate souls.

Bone Tomahawk (2015)

After a somewhat slow start, this western gets going and works towards an extremely violent, impressive finale. When a number of people from a small village are kidnapped by so-called Troglodytes, Sheriff Hunt and his deputy Chicory and two men go to battle against these ruthless cannibals. The second half has all the ingredients of a western classic: fascinating characters, suspense, bloody confrontations and surprising twists. Think Rio Bravo with a dash of Cannibal Holocaust.

I Spit on Your Grave (2010)

Very nice movie that made my stomach turn every now and then. Without a long intro, the film starts quite exciting and the atmosphere is good. The raunchy rape scene was quite shocking to me, but perhaps good enough to justify the violent payback scenes that are enjoyable. With these kinds of films, it is of course not always credible that the pathetic victim turns into a ruthless killer without a shred of fear or something like that. Still, it's wonderful to see how these bastards get what they deserve.
